Enough!

I cry Uncle!

I have watched as people on Facebook have come to Mrs. Trump defense and ask “why can’t we be nice?” and “why are we coming down so hard on her?.” She openly admitted to writing a speech that became a controversy only to find out that someone else was at fault. Had she not taken responsibility for writing the speech, there is a good chance that the reaction to the speech may have been less harsh.

But the same people who are up in arms about the treatment of Melania Trump are silent about what happened to Leslie Jones. Jones was the target of undue criticism and racial slurs after her movie, “Ghostbusters” premiered. The attacks were so hurtful that Leslie removed herself from Twitter. Before leaving, she wrote:

“Ok I have been called Apes,” Jones wrote on Twitter, “even got a pic with semen on my face. I’m tryin to figure out what human means. I’m out.” All she did was make a movie and this was the response.

Both ladies are public figures; both ladies have been the subject of unnecessary criticism. However, one is championed by the masses while the other is ignored.

So to all the people who spent yesterday and today chastising critics and asking others to be nice, to think of others and to be kind, I ask this — is your ire only raised for people who stand on one side of the political or racial fence or do you only advocate for one issue at a time? My inquiring mind wants to know.

I was so sickened by her treatment. 🙁

The world has got me questioning what it means to be human, too. I was very thankful that the jerk who kept the hate flowing was banned from Twitter (no need to type his name here – he needs ZERO attention) and I hope it will cause a real change.

No one – online or otherwise – deserves to be disrespected in that way ever.

I wish today had nicer news for us to chit chat about, but again, no. I am so sad about the way the USA is behaving lately (and not just lately!!). It is terrible to feel helpless to the ridiculousness. I can’t imagine what it must feel like to be there right now.

    Something’s gotta give.
